Mon. Sept. 24- Picture Day
Wed. Sept. 26- Johnny Appleseed Day (please bring a peeled, cored, chopped apple)
Wed. Sept. 26- Tropical Day- wear “tropical” type clothes as we celebrate what we have learned about the rain forest.
Tues. Oct. 9- Vote- Bond Issue- this will not increase SCHOOL taxes.

The students are bringing in coins for the 911.01 fund to help people from last week’s tragedy. LemonAde raised over $800 for the homeless! It’s a great feeling to see our children help the community in so many ways. PLEASE make sure you are wearing a name tag from the office whenever you come to SE- even if you only stay 5 minutes. We must know who is in our building for safety purposes. Thank you so much for taking the extra time to do this!!

Spelling-
Our pattern this week was ee. Our bonus word is environment.

Reading-
We finished Henry and Mudge and the Careful Cousin. Annie turned pink in the story because she was embarassed. We also finished our own Henry and Mudge chapter book. We wrote and drew about humorous events in our lives. Yesterday we made a web of our story. Today we learned about the lead sentence and wrote lead sentences.

Math- We practiced making 100 by playing Sneaky Tens. Today we will problem solve with time.

Science/Social Studies
We have monarch caterpillars that we are observing! 2 are in a chrysalis and 1 is ina “j” shape today. We planted cucumber seeds in humus, sand, clay, and local soil. We shook up soil in tubes with water and watched them settle. Humus has floating sticks on top.

Special Events
Raymond is Cool Cat of the Week.
He brought 2 posters. We made a rain forest with paper animals and also we made a miniature one in our pop bottles! They are sprouting!
